I got informed that Fook Hing Trading Co. in Bras Basah, Singapore, is having an exclusive showcase of Pilot Capless pens! I like Pilot pens and I own a couple of them myself, but never got down to buying a Capless. There has been so many occasions where I could have owned a Capless for myself, but I never clicked the “buy” button. Today, I wonder why. And it makes me annoyed that I don’t even have a photo of the pen to put up here. 🙁 A Capless, also known as a Vanishing Point, should make writing fast and convenient, as you do not need to pull out or unscrew a cap. There are a couple of mechanisms such as the “revolving” type and the “knob” type where, like a ball point pen, the nib is pushed out when you revolve or push the knob. I have heard and read reviews of the Pilot Capless pens and they were mostly, if not all, positive. Here’s an example: The Pen Addict’s review of the Pilot Vanishing Point. I should put that on my Christmas Wish List. 😀 Fook Hing is going to showcase both the new models as well as […]

I literally rubbed my palms in glee as I received an invitation to the Sheaffer Centennial celebrations in Singapore. Well actually, I saw the event being mentioned on the Singapore Fountain Pen Lovers Facebook group, so I quickly contact the organizer to send me an invitation to this event. How could I miss it! And so, I happily went down after work on 22 May to attend the Centennial. Oh, and by the way, the event organizer also invited me to make a speech as a pen collector/blogger at the event as well. What an honour! It was my first public speech on fountain pens so naturally I was nervous. The palms I was rubbing in glee earlier were now clammy. Fortunately, it was a fine evening and the place I was going to is pretty (MICA building near the river). After checking in and getting a “Media” tag for myself, I went eagerly around the exhibits to snap shots of them. You know, the only thing I regret from this event is that I don’t have a proper camera. I was only equipped with my smartphone, so the quality of the pictures taken is… hmm… not ideal. The […]

Finally, I’m blogging about a really cool day – the day of a really cool fountain pen meet in Singapore! It was held yesterday at the McDonalds’ at King Albert Park. We had about 20 people turning up and it was considered a good number already, considering that the number of -enthusiastic- and -active- fountain pen enthusiasts in our tiny island city is pretty small! There are also many people who really wanted to come but could not make it, due to their job or personal commitments. So imagine if everyone was able to make it, it would have been really spectacular! Thanks to Danny from Fook Hing (one of our favourite local pen stores), we managed to get sponsored items as “door gifts” from Sailor Japan: bottles of Sailor Jentle inks! It was definitely a great bonus for us. The inks were given out at random but I already heard some of them talking about exchanging samples already. Those who went had different purposes. Some were there to try out pens which they have always wanted to buy. Some even went to buy pens from one another. A couple of them were newcomers, first time to a pen meet […]

I have been so busy with my new job that I haven’t been very connected to the stationery world recently. I haven’t been aware of this but… THERE IS AN OFFICIAL DAY FOR FOUNTAIN PENS!!! Many thanks to the Fountain Pen Day committee who emailed me regarding this exciting piece of news. I may not have time to blog new reviews, but I sure would have time to talk about this very important day. Of course, the name is known as “Fountain Pen Day“. Sweet and simple and to the point. When is it? MARK YOUR CALENDARS, YOU ALL!!! It’s going to be celebrated on the first Friday of November each year. The very first fountain pen day is going to be on 2nd November 2012. Just four days before my birthday, too! How awesome is that! I can already foresee that November is going to be a great month (with probably more fountain pen acquisitions too I guess…)! Do take some time to browse through the Fountain Pen Day website, it is filled with various posts, links and suggestions on the event. Go, go, go look now! You’re a fountain pen enthusiast, I know you’re interested to know more […]
