The last poll has ended a few days ago! Thank you 46 people who voted in the poll (excluding me) and we have some pretty interesting results right here!
Fortunately no one voted “I hate stationery”, because I would really wonder why you were reading my blog!
Seems like more than half (55%) of us buy new stationery on a weekly to monthly basis. Personally I buy new stationery weekly or fortnightly too. Wondering what you all do with your stationery? Do you use them up so fast or do you just buy to use slowly? Or are they generally for collection? I don’t get the chance to use stationery so much, so it’s really more of hoarding for me, since I always buy new pens to review on my blog but never use them afterwards.
One person buys new stationery on a daily to weekly basis. I wonder who you are. I really envy you, you must be a great stationery fanatic! I’m starting to imagine how your collection looks like!
A quarter of us buy stationery on a monthly to quarterly basis. I would actually think that this is a very normal frequency to buy new stationery, if the stationery is for practical purposes. With technology overshadowing the need to write with a pen and paper, I’m not sure many people empty a pen in one day like in the good old days. If it isn’t for practical purposes, perhaps you are a collector too? Or maybe you’re a business person selling stationery that you purchase to restock monthly or quarterly?
The remaining 17% buy quarterly to yearly. I realised I forgot to add one more field, which would be for those who buy even less frequently than yearly. If it’s a huge number of pens or refillable pens, it’s alright. If you buy only a couple of pens yearly, it really means that you are not writing enough! Don’t let the art of the handwritten word die off! Keep on writing, since your handwriting is unique to you, just like your personality!

This brings me to the new poll: How often do you write by hand a decent amount of stuff? By “decent amount” it excludes to-do lists, short memos, or even worse, merely signing documents. A decent amount would probably be at least a half-page’s worth of words (including calligraphy) in one sitting. Drawing and doodling are not included because they seem to use a different set of muscles in the arm and probably different part of the brain too.
So, please vote by the end of July! And leave comments on this post if you have anything to share!

I am the founder of this website.
Chemist by day, slacker by night, fanatic of stationery all the time.
I write with my left hand, but can also do the same with my right hand – it just won’t look very pretty.
Uh-oh, seems like I can't edit the poll contents once people have voted in it.
Oh I never knew that! Thanks for pointing out, I'll go edit it later. So does that mean "everyday" as a single word is used when it is an adjective, while "every day" is referring to each day?
Sorry to be picky, but in this case "every day" should be two words. In "everyday carry" it's a compound, but if you mean that something happens every day – two words.
Thanks for voting. I used to write only once in a while too, until I took up the fountain pen hobby not long ago! I made myself write more often ever since.
I voted for '…a couple of times a week…', but really that's an average.
I'll go for weeks without anything much to write (I'm sad to say), but then I write 6-8 A4 pages in a letter to a friend. Otherwise I just write ToDo lists, a few notes at work, and crosswords…
I usually prefer writing stuff down instead of typing it because I can retain more of the information. I have edited chapters from my thesis by hand (each chapter is about 20-30 pages), and I really enjoy that process, though it is more time consuming.
Yep, anything pen/pencil/notebooks/Sharpies and the like. Thanks for leaving comments around here! 😀
So the stationery category included pens? Hmm…interesting. Glad to have found your blog 😀
