Lost in my admiration of my fountain pens, I had totally forgotten to look at the fountain pen’s companions: accessories to enhance a fountain pen experience. I’m talking about this gift that I had received from a good friend:
I am not a chilli-person, nor am I a colour-red-person, so I really don’t know why I was given this choice of the colour. Perhaps it’s a subtle hint for me to SPICE up my life. Or perhaps it’s to stand out from the rest of my sombre belongings and scream, “Hello everyone! Look at me and the jewels in my tummy!” I’m not complaining, though, I have grown to love this little pouch and its colour – and the little rabbit at the end of the string!
Opening the synthetic leather-like pouch, two pockets are revealed, which can hold about 3 pens each (ignore the notepad at the side). My biggest pens are my Lamy Al-Star and Lamy Vista, and the smallest is my Parker Urban. I have experienced curling of the edges of the thin pouch if I try to place too many fat pens together, so I try not to push or even reach this limit. I also found that clipping the pen to the pouch causes dents on the surface, and I don’t like such marks, so generally I do not clip the pens there but let them rest freely in the pouch. The flap at the top prevents the pens from slipping out when the pouch is rolled up, so everything is under control!
I really like this pouch as it is lightweight, and the only down side is probably that I can only carry 6 pens at one go. So I would always need to think and choose which of my pens I want to dedicate the slots to, and I don’t really like making choices for such events. There always will be a time when you select a few pens, bring them out, then realise when you are 50 miles away: “Oh damn, I am having a sudden strong bout of inspiration that can only be coupled with XYZ pen, which is currently at home, 50 miles away from me!” and roll about on the floor in frustration. OK, I exaggerate. But you get my point.
I forgot to take a picture of two things: the clear plastic box that packages this pouch, and the brand logo. How careless. But to view these, you can look at this website, where you can also buy one of them!
